Hudson Gateway Association General Activities

HGAR President Dorothy Botsoe reviewed the President Outreach Initiatives and reported the positive attendance at the event held at Four Brothers Restaurant in Mahopac and the success the outreach has been experiencing in general. President Botsoe mentioned that the next event would be held at Don Coqui in the Bronx, as well as a “Breakfast with Benefits” event to be held at Maestro’s in the Bronx.

CEO Richard Haggerty reported on the Manhattan Outreach Initiatives, thanking attendees who participated in the NAR Broker’s Edge Conference in Manhattan on July 18, 2017, which he described as a success in terms of content and attendance. CEO Haggarty was pleased to note that NAR leadership was heavily present.

RPAC Chairperson Barry Kramer reported that there still existed an inventory of 20 tickets for the “Day with the Yankees” event, which was taking place the following day on July 26, 2017, and encouraged the HGAR and HGMLS Directors present to attend.

HGAR President Botsoe addressed a proposal by Advanced Development Services, Inc. for Organizational Development, Leadership Coaching for Management and Continued Board Leadership Training. A large part of the ensuing discussion concerned how to transition from the organic growth that HGAR and HGMLS have enjoyed over the years to a strategic growth initiative due to the ever-changing landscape of how brokerage services are delivered to consumers and the overall competition in the industry.

CEO Haggerty reported on how the leadership training and staff training focus groups through Advanced Development Services, Inc. helped identify areas of improvement and methods to accomplish same. He discussed staff and team building and communication between staff and membership as vital focus points. He further discussed proposed changes to Directors’ and members’ orientation. Discussion ensued with regard to the direction of the association in connection with strategic growth. Strategic growth initiatives discussed included: adding staff, expanding the School of Real Estate beyond the six-county footprint, expansion of affiliated members, instituting a global division, growth of social media and improvements to the website, adding support in the Bronx and Manhattan, provide more training/coaching to management and provide staff with necessary tools needed to grow and make staff feel that they are a part of the growth and vision. After discussion the HGAR Directors approved retaining the services of Advanced Development Services, Inc. for Organizational Development, Leadership Coaching for Management and Continued Board Leadership Training.

President Botsoe of HGAR then entertained a motion to approve the allocation of financial resources from HGAR Reserves to allow for CEO Haggerty to implement strategic growth initiatives presented and that the allocation would be used to hire support personnel for office operations and staff to promote HGAR and HGMLS in the Bronx and Manhattan. After discussion the motion was approved.

The HGAR Directors also approved a motion to make a contribution to the NYSAR Real Estate Education Foundation.
