Management, Financial & Membership Reports

Secretary/Treasurer Gail Fattizzi presented the Treasurer’s Report on behalf of HGAR, including the bank and investment summary for September 1st, and the Directors approved receipt of the Cash Reports. The Directors approved contributions out of reserves for the NYSAR Habitat for Humanity build project, the NYSAR Education Foundation and the NYSAR Housing Opportunities Foundation.

Communications and Member Services

Director Debra Budetti provided an update on behalf of the Communications Council, encouraging attendance at HGAR Members Day on October 29 at the Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown. In addition, attendance was encouraged at three upcoming Breakfast with Benefits events on September 14, October 5 and October 18, respectively.

Director Rey Hollingsworth Falu delivered an update on behalf of the Broker-Owner-Manager Committee, advising that the next committee meeting will be on September 13. There will be an upcoming event, date to be determined, on “Cybersecurity.” The committee may have a speaker from the FBI present at that future event.


Director Katheryn DeClerck provided an update on behalf of the Education Council, advising that at a meeting on August 7 the council reviewed the instructor application process. Additionally, there will be “Meet and Greet” events held in the near future with Director of Professional Development and Industry Relations Theresa Hatton. Task Force meetings will be held on September 18.

Legislative, Political and Legal Issues

CEO Haggerty encouraged all Directors to vote in the New York State primaries to be held later in the week. HGAR Past-President Dorothy Botsoe, co-chair of the RPAC Committee, encouraged attendance at the upcoming RPAC fundraiser at the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park on October 11. HGAR President Barry Kramer stated that he continues to encourage each office within HGAR to contribute at least $250 before the end of 2018 to RPAC. In addition, HGAR President Kramer stated that there may be a public hearing on October 15 in Westchester County for the proposed Co-Op Transparency legislation.

Fair Housing and Cultural Diversity

Director Crystal Hawkins Syska provided an update on behalf of the Fair Housing and Cultural Diversity Committee, advising that the committee is preparing remarks to be delivered at the next public hearing in Westchester County for proposed Co-Op Transparency legislation. Additionally, FH&CD will be collaborating with the Young Professionals Network to host a Fair-Housing-themed “Breakfast with Benefits” event in the near future. Lastly, attendance was encouraged at WRO’s 50th Anniversary Gala to be held on October 10 at the VIP Country Club in New Rochelle. HGAR Past-President Dorothy Botsoe will be honored at the event, in addition to Ira Schuman.

Global Business Council

Director and Global Business Council Chair Robert Shandley stated that the council met recently on August 20 to finalize the itinerary for the October 22 “Global Business Summit” in New York City. Shandley encouraged registration for the event at He also confirmed that HGAR has been appointed by NAR as Ambassador Association to Portugal.

Professional Standards

Leon Cameron, Director of Legal Services and Professional Standards Administrator, provided an activity report on behalf of the Professional Standards Council, advising that the HGAR Grievance Committee met on July 30 and approved three Requests to Arbitrate. They also approved four matters for Ethics Hearings. He further advised that there would be a Professional Standards Training session on September 28. Cameron then presented Ethics Decisions designated as 239-E, 241-E, 242-E, 243-E, and 244-E. After review and discussion, the Directors individually confirmed each of the ethics decisions.

Multiple Listing Service

CEO Richard Haggerty provided an update on HGMLS Business, advising that New York MLS, LLC was officially formed and that the Operating Agreement was finalized. He stated that he and HGMLS President Renee Zurlo had already executed the Operating Agreement and that the officers of MLSLI were in the process of executing same. CEO Haggerty also reported that the initial Board of Managers for New York MLS, LLC met for the first time on the day prior. It was decided at the meeting that the Chairperson of the Board of Managers would be Leah Caro. It is anticipated that real time data sharing and the “Full Operational Date” of New York MLS, LLC will take place in 2019.

Commercial and Investment Division

Commercial and Investment Division Chair John Barrett stated that the next CID event will be held on September 17 at HGAR White Plains. The special guest Bridget Gibbons, Director of Economic Development for Westchester County, will discuss the Westchester economy, an upcoming new marketing campaign to be rolled out later this year, and other initiatives by the Latimer Administration.


Women’s Council of Realtors Empire Chapter President Carol Dorado delivered an update in which she encouraged attendance on September 24 for a luncheon with Westchester County Executive George Latimer to be held at the Knollwood County Club in Elmsford. On October 4, there will be WCR’s Sixth Annual Realtor-to-Realtor Fundraiser benefiting “Hope’s Door” to be held at the Salem Golf Club in North Salem.

Hudson Gateway Realtor Foundation

Director Aimee DeCesare delivered a report on behalf of the Hudson Gateway Realtor Foundation. There will be a foundation fundraiser later this evening held at the Orange County Choppers Café in Newburgh. Additionally, later today volunteers from the foundation will be packing bags at the Food Bank of Westchester in Elmsford.
