The Hudson Gateway REALTOR® Foundation, the charitable arm of the Hudson Gateway Association of REALTORS®, recently presented $6,000 in donations to four Hudson Valley non-profit organizations. Additional donations are planned for distribution this fall to several other charities throughout the Hudson Valley.

Support Connection, Inc. of Yorktown Heights received a $2,000 donation for its work in providing free confidential support services and programs to people affected by breast and ovarian cancer. “We are so thankful to the Hudson Gateway Realtor Foundation for their support,” said Katherine Quinn, Executive Director of Support Connection, Inc. “Our professional peer counselors are all cancer survivors who can answer questions about living with cancer from the unique perspective of someone who’s been there.”

Another cancer support organization, Gilda’s Club Westchester, received $1,000 from the HG Realtor Foundation to continue providing free emotional support, healthy lifestyle workshops, activities and social events for everyone living with cancer – men, women, teens and children – and their families and friends. Created in fulfillment of actress Gilda Radner’s dream, Gilda’s Club Westchester serves Westchester and Rockland Counties, as well as Connecticut’s lower Fairfield County.

In addition, the HG Realtor Foundation donated $2,000 to Caritas of Port Chester, Inc, which offers food, clothing, counseling and educational services for anyone in need in Port Chester and the surrounding area. “This donation couldn’t have come at a better time,” said Bill Cusano, Coordinator of Services for Caritas of Port Chester. “This summer Caritas has experienced an unprecedented 60% increase in the number of meals prepared and served by our soup kitchen. This gift will go a long way toward helping us meet the demand and help foster hope for a better life for many.”

Most recently, April’s Child in White Plains received a $1,000 check to continue its mission of helping to prevent child abuse and neglect, as well as strengthening families in Westchester County. The organization offers several programs and services including volunteer parent aide programs that teach parenting skills and effective non-violent discipline methods, anger management, stress relief and child development techniques.

Established in 2004 and relaunched in 2013, the Foundation has donated thousands of dollars to charities and non-profits throughout the Hudson Valley. As concerned members of the communities we work in, the Hudson Gateway REALTOR® Foundation participates in qualified community-based charities who serve the housing, hunger, health, happiness, and humane needs of citizens everywhere.
