WHITE PLAINS—The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals officially launched its Westchester County Chapter recently with a kick-off party at an office rooftop in White Plains. The event drew more than 150 people and included special guest Chef Barret Bayer of the “Hell’s Kitchen” and “Million Dollar Listing” TV shows.

NAHREP currently has more than 100 chapters throughout the nation and in Puerto Rico, but New York actually started out as just one chapter. “At one point, we had a Westchester/Bronx chapter, then the Bronx started its own at the beginning of this year,” explained Veronica Suarez, of the local Westchester Chapter. “Now Westchester will have its own chapter, and the organization is continuing to grow.”
The new Westchester group has close to 100 members and membership is open to all. “You don’t have to be Hispanic to join us. Our mission is to advance Hispanic home ownership, so anyone who deals with Hispanic buyers or sellers is welcome,” added Suarez.
NAHREP’s 2018 Hispanic Home Ownership Report indicated that last year Hispanics formed 485,000 new households, accounting for 32.4% of total U.S. household formations. This includes single-family, condo and co-op purchases.
The new Westchester NAHREP chapter is already planning more networking events throughout the year. The chapter plans to hold an educational, networking and BBQ event on July 11th at Putnam County Golf Club.
