Last year, 22 member offices of the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors raised almost $8,000 for Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley by holding Garage Sales throughout Westchester, Putnam, Rockland and Orange counties.  The event was so successful that HGAR’s Make-A-Wish Committee decided to run the event again this year.

On Saturday, June 6, brokerages throughout the four-county area will hold Garage Sales at their offices from 9 a.m. to noon.  Agents will again donate items to sell to the public, and all monies raised will go directly to the Tarrytown-based charity that serves the lower Hudson Valley area.

“We were so deeply grateful to those agencies of HGAR who participated in the garage sales last year and we thank them in advance for this year.  Their hard work and generosity will make it possible for us to grant a child’s one true heartfelt wish,” said Tom Conklin, Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley CEO.

Brokers who participate should ask their agents to donate items for sale, and set up a table outside their offices on the day of the event. HGAR will promote the event in Real Estate In-Depth, on social media and its website, while brokers and agents can e-mail all of their clients. Once the money is collected, brokers can deposit the cash into their accounts and write a check for the amount to the Hudson Gateway Realtor Foundation.  HGAR will make one large check presentation to Make-A-Wish and invite all of the participating brokerages.

Since 1986, Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley has granted more than 2,000 wishes to Hudson Valley children with life-threatening medical conditions. Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley serves eight counties: Delaware, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester. The organization is currently working on 160 wishes
