Houlihan Lawrence recently announced the appointment of law professional John P. Gardner, principal of Lambden & Gardner, P.C. and the current Pelham Town Justice, as manager of its Rye brokerage.
Gardner brings more than three decades of legal experience in Westchester County, including seven years with the Westchester District Attorney’s office and 25 years at his Rye-based firm, which focuses on real estate law. He has been Town Justice in Pelham since 2012.
“John’s background and connections from decades of practice in Rye will be an asset advising our agents and clients in the Sound Shore market,” said Chris Meyers, president of Houlihan Lawrence. “He brings incredible expertise tailor-made for this role.”
Gardner replaces Judiann Smith, who is retiring after 11 years of service. During her five-year tenure in Rye, Smith increased transactions more than 11%, adding nearly 38% in volume growth. She previously managed the firm’s Larchmont office, where from 2006-2012 she grew transactions nearly 68% and volume growth by more than 50%.
“John is an excellent choice and natural leader,” said Smith. “He knows everyone in the real estate community, is well-networked throughout local municipal offices and well-respected for his fair, thoughtful demeanor.”
A graduate of Villanova University, Gardner holds a J.D. from the Fordham University School of Law and is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Westchester County Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association and various local bar associations. He resides in Pelham with his wife of 22 years, Karen, and four children.
