Fattizzi Introduced as 2020 HGAR President; Koff, Koudijs Garner Association’s Top Honors at Annual Meeting & Member Day

TARRYTOWN—More than 1,200 members of the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors gathered at the DoubleTree Hotel here for the association’s 103rd Annual Meeting & Member Appreciation Day on Oct. 28.

The highlight of the day-long program was the introduction of Gail Fattizzi as the 2020 HGAR President. Along with Fattizzi, a slate of HGAR Officers for the 2020 term were recognized at the meeting, including: President-Elect Crystal Hawkins Syska; Treasurer Anthony A. Domathoti; Secretary Irene Guanill and Immediate Past President Ron Garafalo. Fattizzi will be confirmed with the other nominated officers at the HGAR Directors Meeting in November.

Also recognized at the Annual Meeting were HGAR Directors that will serve in 2020: Regional Director New York County (i.e., Manhattan) and Chapter Representative Manhattan Tony L. D’Anzica; Regional Director Putnam County Clayton C. Livingston; Regional Director Orange County Eydie Lopez; Regional Director Rockland County Richard Herska; Regional Director Westchester County Theresa Crozier; Class 1 Directors Maria D. Weiss, Roberta F. Bangs, Barry Kramer, Rey Hollingsworth Falu and Roseann Paggiotta; Class 3 Directors: Debra Budetti, Dorothy Botsoe, Tammy Teresa Belmore, Mark J. Seiden and Kazuko Boylan.

HGMLS President Renee Zurlo was also recognized at the event. Zurlo’s position as an HGMLS Director will sunset once the new regional multiple listing service OneKey MLS becomes fully operational.

Among the many highlights of the day’s program included the announcement by HGAR Awards Chairperson Terri Crozier that Bonnie Koff, an Associate Broker with William Raveis Legends Realty Group in Briarcliff and Tarrytown and HG Realtor Foundation Trustee and Fundraising Committee Chair, was named 2019 Realtor of the Year. The Awards Committee also selected Sander Koudijs, partner, senior vice president and sales executive with Great American Title Agency of White Plains, as the association’s 2019 Affiliate of the Year.

2019 HGAR President Garafalo addressed the membership and discussed his goals for this year that included the adoption of a Strategic Plan for HGAR by the association’s Board of Directors, a focus on the Realtor Code of Ethics and to have HGAR reach its RPAC fundraising goal for this year. He also provided updates on HGAR’s expansion efforts into Manhattan and the charitable work of the HG Realtor Foundation.

Garafalo and HGAR Chief Executive Officer Richard Haggerty discussed the upcoming launch of operations of OneKey MLS as did OneKeyMLS CEO Jim Speer, who said that a launch date for the combined MLS of HGAR and the Long Island Board of Realtors will be announced in the next month or so.

OneKey MLS officials have previously stated that the new MLS will begin operations before the end of this year and at the launch will boast more than 42,000 subscribers. OneKey MLs will offer Realtors more coverage, precise and accurate data and what officials say will be “the best tools in the business.”

A packed ballroom at the DoubleTree was on hand for a stirring and inspirational presentation by Vernice “Fly Girl” Armour, a combat pilot and US Marine who served two tours in Iraq. Her “Zero to Breakthrough Success Plan” provided attendees a “flight plan” to help them win on the battlefields of business and life.

Ned Sullivan, president of Scenic Hudson, was the keynote speaker at the RPAC Luncheon and provided an update on the environmental advocacy’s initiatives throughout the Hudson Valley that are geared at preserving open space and farmland, as well as fostering smart growth and sustainable projects.

The event also offered three educational seminars presented by former HGAR Presidents Katheryn DeClerck (“Become a Pro at Homesnap”) and Dorothy Botsoe (“Cultural Etiquette in Real Estate”). HGAR Director of Legal Services Brian Levine and HGAR Legislative Council Chair Leah Caro led a program entitled “Fair and Ethical Housing.”

Another well-attended seminar was led by Christopher J. Wirth of No Quit Living entitled “Maximizing Your Time and Grow Your Real Estate Business.”

Other association awards announced at the event included:

• Spirit Award: Al Smith of Better Homes & Gardens Rand Realty.

• Extra Mile Award: Tony D’Anzica of DynaMax Realty NYC

• President’s Awards: HGAR Chief Executive Officer Richard Haggerty and HGAR Chief Operating Officer Ann Garti.

• Albert P. Schatz Legislative Advocacy Award: Barry Kramer of Westchester Choice Realty.

• Stephanie Crispinelli Humanitarian Award: Roberta Bangs of Better Homes & Gardens Rand Realty.

• Up & Coming Award: Carmen Bauman of Green Grass Real Estate Corp. of Bronxville.

• Edward I. Sumber Memorial Award: Nicholas Wolff of Better Homes & Gardens Rand Realty.

HGAR also gave special recognition to HGAR staff who have reached significant milestones of service to the association.

Those staff members included: Gary Connolly, director of MLS/Information Systems, 15 years; Diane Marshall, Member Success Team, 15 years; Michelle Gilliard, Communications Coordinator & Member Services, 20 years; Jeff Marzo, Director Technology, 20 years; Nancy Rubino, Putnam Liaison & Membership Advocacy, 20+ years; Richard Haggerty, HGAR Chief Executive Officer, 35 years.

A total of 67 exhibitors participated in the event. The Premium Sponsor of the Annual Meeting & Member’s Day was O’Donnell & Cullen Property Consultants. A.S.A.P. Mortgage Corp. was the Cocktail Party sponsor. Irene Amato, owner of A.S.A.P. Mortgage was recognized by HGAR for sponsoring the Annual Meeting & Member’s Day’s Cocktail Party for seven consecutive years.
