TARRYTOWN—”The Flight to Your Success” is the theme of HGAR’s 103rd Annual Member Appreciation Day on Monday, Oct. 28 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Tarrytown. The event will feature keynote speaker Vernice “Fly Girl” Armour, America’s first African American female combat pilot.

A former beat cop, Armour served two tours in Iraq before returning home to create her Zero to Breakthrough Success Plan, a personal flight plan designed to help people win on the battlefield of business and life. She also launched her own firm, VAI Consulting and Training, LLC, and has been featured on Oprah Winfrey, CNN, NPR and many other shows.

In addition, Armour is the first African American woman on the Nashville Police Department’s motorcycle squad, Camp Pendleton’s 2001 Female Athlete of the Year, two-time titleholder in Camp Pendleton’s annual Strongest Warrior Competition, and a running back for the San Diego Sunfire women’s professional football team.

More than 1,200 Realtors from Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, and Orange counties, as well as the Bronx and Manhattan are expected to attend the full-day event.

Members Day will also include free classes and workshops, a plated luncheon with guest speaker, the annual meeting, and a trade show with 70 exhibitors.

Ned Sullivan, president of Scenic Hudson will speak at the plated Luncheon, which will benefit RPAC, the Realtors Political Action Committee. Under Sullivan’s leadership, Scenic Hudson has helped to preserve thousands of acres of critical open space and farmland, and transform contaminated waterfronts into beautiful public parks.

A “Fair and Ethical Housing” class will deal with real-life scenarios for complying with federal, state and local rules for Fair Housing and Ethics. Christopher Wirth of No Quit Living will present “Maximize Your Time and Grow Your Real Estate Business” to help Realtors better structure their day and focus on priorities. Wirth also hosts the No Quit Living Podcast, ranked a Top 50 Podcast on iTunes.

Former HGAR President Dorothy Botsoe will moderate a “Cultural Etiquette in Real Estate” panel that will discuss the best ways to interact with people from various cultures, and provide advice on how to successfully close international deals in the U.S. and abroad. HGAR Instructor and former HGAR President Katheryn DeClerck will present “Become a Pro at Homesnap,” the new mobile app that allows you to view and share listings and much more right from your smart phone.

Members Day will conclude with a Celebration Cocktail party to acknowledge the HGAR Realtor of the Year and HGAR Affiliate Member of the Year, along with other awards that will be announced at the event.

“Last year’s event was one of our most successful with more than 1,100 agents attending, and this year we’re expecting even more this year,” said Richard Haggerty, HGAR CEO.

O’Donnell & Cullen Property Tax Consultants is the Premier Sponsor of the event, and A.S.A.P. Mortgage Corp. is sponsoring the Celebration Cocktail Party. For more information, registration, or trade show exhibitors, please visit www.HGAR.com.
