POUGHKEEPSIE—The Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. has announced that Tom LaPerch, commercial director with Houlihan Lawrence Real Estate of Rye Brook, has joined its Advisory Board.

LaPerch, a 30-year real estate professional with additional expertise in marketing and government land planning, serves as commercial director for Houlihan Lawrence out of the company’s Rye Brook office.

“Tom is an outstanding commercial real estate professional whose successes are the result of not only his expansive knowledge and expertise, but his love of community and desire to see the ones he serves prosper,” said Mike Oates, president and CEO of HVEDC. “He has been instrumental in a handful of significant real estate projects that have had huge impacts here in the Hudson Valley, and he continues to work hard to bring more of the same to our region.”

LaPerch has brokered such high-profile deals as the $4.5-million sale of the former IBM chip fabrication plant in East Fishkill in 2011, and closing the $4-million transaction for the abandoned Hudson River State Psychiatric Hospital in Poughkeepsie in 2013.

He has served on the Town of Southeast Municipal Planning Board for 17 years, including the role of Chairperson for the past four years. He was awarded the John O. Cross Award for Outstanding Planning Board Chair by the New York Planning Federation in March of 2017.

LaPerch is actively involved in his own community, where he earned the honor Volunteer of the Year in 2002. He has also been the Brewster Little League President for three years and served as Director of CYO Basketball for Saint Lawrence O’Toole Brewster program for seven years.

Prior to joining Houlihan Lawrence, LaPerch served as director of real estate development projects for a well-known firm in Dutchess County, where he was recognized as a top company producer five times, earning the company’s National Presidential Award.
