Houlihan Lawrence, RXR Realty Named to BCW’s Business Hall of Fame

RYE BROOK—The real estate industry is well represented in this year’s Business Hall of Fame honorees of the Business Council of Westchester. Real estate firms Houlihan Lawrence and RXR Realty were among the six overall Hall of Fame selections.

The winners will be honored at the 2018 Business Hall of Fame Awards Dinner on Tuesday, April 24 at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle. The Business Council of Westchester announced the Hall of Fame inductees on Feb. 6.

The winners in their respective categories were: Corporate Citizenship – Houlihan Lawrence; Entrepreneurial Success – RXR Realty; Family Owned Business – Combe, Inc.; Small Business Success – D&D Elevator; Women in Business- Geri Pell, Pell Wealth Partners; and Chairman’s Recognition – Atlantic Westchester, Inc.

“This year’s award winners represent a cross-section of the diverse business community that makes Westchester County a special place to work and live. This year’s honorees are change makers who are transforming their industries and adding to the economic vitality of our region,” says Marsha Gordon, president and CEO of the Business Council of Westchester.

Houlihan Lawrence is celebrating its 130th anniversary in 2018. The family-run company has 30 offices and more than 1,300 agents serving Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Columbia, Ulster and Orange counties in New York and Fairfield County in Connecticut. Based in Rye Brook, Houlihan Lawrence ranks in the top 20 of all brokerages nationally and achieved a total sales volume of more than $6.5 billion in 2017. Its founder William Van Duzer Lawrence played an integral role in defining American suburbia, and the company’s commitment to superior client service continues today. The company was acquired by Warren Buffet’s Home Services of America, Inc. in January 2017.

Although based in New York City, RXR Realty is currently developing major transit oriented residential projects in the downtowns of Yonkers and New Rochelle. The firm is a vertically-integrated private real estate company with expertise in investment management, property management, development, design, construction, leasing and financing and makes investments in New York City and the surrounding tri-state area markets. It manages 74 commercial real estate properties and investments.

Combe, Inc. is a privately-held, family-owned personal care company with deep roots in Westchester. Founded by Ivan B. Combe in 1949, the company is best-known for creating iconic, first-of-their-kind products including Clearasil and Odor-Eaters. Their current brands, such as Just for Men and Sea-Bond, are category leaders in markets around the world, thanks to the expertise of more than 160 White Plains-based employees.

Established in 1981, D&D Elevator actively services more than 800 customers and approximately 1,200 elevators in Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess and Nassau counties and the boroughs of Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan in New York City. Over the past 10 years, the company has grown from 34 employees to 85. In addition to the Elmsford headquarters and branch office in Manhattan, D&D has a new state-of-the-art training facility in Yonkers and has grown its footprint there from 3,500 square feet to 15,000 square feet.

Pell Wealth Partners was founded by Geri Eisenman Pell nearly 31 years ago. With more than 700 clients, Pell Wealth Partners is a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. The Rye Brook-based company manages $500 million in assets in-house and a total of $1 billion in assets for clients throughout their portfolios.

Located in Bedford Hills, Atlantic Westchester has been in operation since 1961. The company offers a variety of commercial/industrial HVAC solutions for businesses, institutions and government facilities across the New York metro area. It also provides maintenance programs, remediation services and energy intelligent solutions to help facility managers and owners discover cost-effective solutions that can decrease a building’s carbon footprint.
