New York City-based public relations firm Nicholas & Lence Communications reported recently the addition of Larry Gottlieb in the newly created dual role of Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice President, Business Development.
Gottlieb is a seasoned public relations, marketing and government relations executive, spending the last five years as president and CEO of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation, running one of New York State’s leading economic development and regional marketing organizations.
Gottlieb will concentrate on expanding NLC’s considerable strategic communications and government affairs advisory capabilities in support of the firm’s existing client base, while applying his economic development skills to increasing NLC’s topline growth through new outreach efforts, the company stated.
“This is an exciting time for our firm, and we are thrilled to have Larry join our team to bring his considerable knowledge and experience from both the public and private sectors to our agency, as we continue to expand Nicholas & Lence Communications,” said CEO Cristyne Nicholas.
“Beyond his national and global experience, Larry has an exceptional reputation among business, non-profit and government leaders throughout the region—especially in Westchester County and the Hudson Valley—where he spent many years as a communications and marketing professional with a long list of accomplishments,” said Nicholas & Lence President George Lence. “From outstanding crisis and branding work to strategic government affairs leadership, Larry is a fantastic addition to the NLC team and we look forward to working with him.”
Under his tenure at HVEDC, Gottlieb ran numerous, award-winning industry cluster initiatives including NY BioHud Valley (biopharma), Hudson Valley Food & Beverage Alliance (craft beer and specialty foods), HV3D (3D printing), Hudson Valley EDs & MEDs (higher education and healthcare) and Hudson Valley PLAY (hospitality and entertainment). In addition, he was responsible for the creation of the region’s first biotech incubator (BioInc@NYMC), a globally renowned advanced manufacturing center specializing in 3D-printing technology (HVAMC) and New York’s largest craft beverage educational event (held annually at The Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park).
Prior to leading HVEDC, Gottlieb held numerous senior-level, public and private sector positions such as Director of Economic Development for Westchester County, Managing Director and Market Leader at Burson-Marsteller, Director of Communications for Entergy Nuclear and National Director of Marketing for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, among others.
