Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty reported that Roberta Bangs, a real estate associate broker in its New City office, was recognized alongside Rockland County Executive Ed Day at the Hi Tor Animal Shelter Cocktail Party at the Hilton Hotel in Pearl River on Nov. 16.
Bangs served on Hi Tor’s board of directors for three years, beginning in 1978. She was then re-elected to the board in 2003. In 2007, Bangs was elected as president, a position in which she served until 2013, during which time she led the organization through several challenges, including financial issues and political opposition. She continues as a volunteer and advocate for the shelter.
The shelter was founded in 1973 and is located in Pomona. It brings in approximately 2,500 animals each year and is Rockland’s only open managed-admission shelter.
