WHITE PLAINS—HGAR has recently launched a new Global Business Council charged with creating global business opportunities and education for HGAR members. Robert Shandley of Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty in White Plains is the chairman of the new council.

The new council, comprised of approximately 17 people, is planning networking mixers along with educational seminars about working with international clients and foreign investors. Shandley said the council would consider panel discussions and guest speakers who could address topics such as emerging foreign markets, tax planning for foreign investors and issues that impact foreign buyers and sellers.

“One of our goals is to help our members get a better understanding of how to deal with international clients,” said Shandley. “I’d personally like to see members of the HGAR family be able to prosper in the global real estate community.”

Shandley is currently a member of the Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) and the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals. (NAHREP). He’s also a new HGAR Director for 2018 and is a member of several HGAR committees.

Because we live in a global economy, working with international clients has become a daily part of business for many real estate professionals, HGAR officials noted. For the second year in a row, HGAR will join the Staten Island Board of Realtors (SIBOR) in hosting the Global Real Estate Summit NYC on Monday Oct. 22 at the New York Marriott Marquis in Manhattan.

The event will feature a variety of speakers including real estate brokers and agents, developers, builders, investors and other affiliated professionals.
